The Mentor SS boys’ football team won the Lango zonal USSSA games on Saturday, April 12, 2025.

Mentor faced Wisdom High School in the final, which was held on the playground of Ambalal Primary School. The game ended 1:0.

Mentor’s sister school, St. Mary Magdalene SS girls’ team, won the trophy after defeating Acaba Girls’ SS.

Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero, the Health Minister and Lira City woman MP, flagged off the final games.

She would later announce a generous cash contribution of shs2 million to support Lango teams competing in national competitions.

The national competition starts on May 5 to May 15, 2025 in Ngora and Bukedea, Eastern Uganda.

Dr. Aceng praised the teams’ tactical gameplay, highlighting Wisdom High School and Mentor SS’s distinct playing styles.

She also praised Wisdom High’s agility and skill in handling ground balls, citing their shorter stature, while Mentor SS’s taller players effectively used higher balls.

Interestingly, Dr. Aceng, an Arsenal fan, praised the USSSA Lango finalists, saying they were even better than Manchester United of the English Premier League in England.
