Kampala | tndNews understands that 148 UPDF officers are set to retire from active military service.

After retirement, they are encouraged to take part in UPDF and government wealth creation programs.

According to military policy, personnel who have served for a number of years and are older are given the opportunity to work in other jobs.

This batch included 148 soldiers ranging from Colonel to Major who were in the early stages of deployment before retiring.

Things are being put in place to prepare for a new life after military service, as well as how to handle the money they will receive as a pension.

Col. Deborah Nayebare, Deputy Chief of Pensions and Gratuity, has urged those who have not been paid to come to the army headquarters in Mbuya for immediate resolution.

She explained how these candidates will receive their pensions and emphasised that everyone will leave the training knowing exactly how they will receive their pensions.

Nayebare urged them not to sleep when they returned home, but rather to engage in various activities such as farming and other forms of income generation.
