Ugandan media personality Brian Ssemanda, popularly known as Macona, has shared a strange experience he has faced since surviving a terrible road accident that claimed the lives of two of his colleagues. The Next Media presenter says some boda-boda riders have refused to transport him because they believe he died in the crash and is now a ghost.
Macona revealed that he has been left stranded by at least four boda-boda riders who allegedly became frightened after recognising him. According to the presenter, some riders questioned how he could still be alive, having heard reports on social media that he had died.
The accident happened on August 7, 2026, at Namulanda along Entebbe Road. Macona was travelling with producer Badru Kasirye and content creator Isaac Ndamagye when their vehicle was involved in a serious collision with another car. Sadly, Kasirye and Ndamagye died at the scene, while Macona sustained serious injuries.
Following the crash, Macona was rushed to Kisubi Hospital, where he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit in critical condition. His survival brought relief to his family, friends, colleagues and fans who had been following updates about his health.

The presenter later underwent a long recovery process and received further treatment at Case Hospital. His condition gradually improved, and in October he made a return to Next Media after spending months away from work. He described his survival as a second chance at life and expressed gratitude to God and everyone who supported him.
However, his recovery journey is still affecting his daily activities. Macona says he has not yet received medical clearance to drive again, meaning he sometimes depends on public transport, including boda-bodas, to move around.
In a video shared on social media, he appealed to boda-boda riders not to turn him away because of rumours that he had died. He insisted that he was very much alive and asked them to stop treating him as though he were a ghost whenever he requested a ride.
His revelation has amused many Ugandans, although it also highlights the painful experience behind the jokes. While some riders may have believed false reports about his death, Macona is now alive, recovering and rebuilding his life after an accident that tragically took the lives of two people he worked with.
