The Patriotic League of Uganda Movement (PLUM) has approached the Electoral Commission seeking clearance for its proposed political identity as it moves towards establishing itself as a political party in Uganda.
In a letter dated October 9, 2026, the movement requested the reservation of its proposed name, colours, symbol and slogan in accordance with Sections 6 and 7 of the Political Parties and Organisations Act.
The application, signed by Acting Chief Promoter Cankara Moses Mwaka, identifies the proposed party as the Patriotic League of Uganda Movement, abbreviated as PLUM.
The movement has proposed orange, white and blue as its official colours, a handshake as its symbol, and “Protect the Citizens” as its slogan. The slogan is also expressed in Swahili as “Linda Mwananchi.”
PLUM has asked the Commission to examine its proposed identifiers against existing political party records to determine whether they are available for reservation and protection.
Mwaka also requested written guidance and the necessary application schedules to help the movement compile the national founders’ registers required for the political party establishment process.
