Gen Caleb Akandwanaho, popularly known as Salim Saleh, has urged African military leaders to look beyond guns and territorial defence by protecting household wealth, promoting economic stability and improving community livelihoods.

Saleh, who coordinates Operation Wealth Creation (OWC), made the remarks in a video address during the inaugural African Chiefs of Defence Forces Conference on Military Operations Other Than War in Kampala.

He emphasised that lasting security depends not only on military strength but also on economically stable communities where people can produce, earn incomes and improve their livelihoods.

Saleh pointed to commercial agriculture, value addition and income generation as important areas for strengthening household wealth and national stability.
