Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has sparked fresh debate online after suggesting that men who have never served in the military experience difficulties when dealing with women.
The Chief of Defence Forces shared the remark on X, formerly known as Twitter, making a connection between military experience and men’s experiences in relationships.
“Men who never served in the army have difficulties with women,” Muhoozi wrote.
Although the army chief did not elaborate on his statement, his words have raised questions about whether he believes military training gives men an advantage in attracting romantic partners.
Life in the armed forces exposes soldiers to demanding situations that require discipline, confidence, teamwork and the ability to make decisions under pressure. These experiences can shape how some individuals carry themselves in everyday life.
However, Muhoozi did not specify which aspects of military service he believes make a difference in relationships or explain why men who have never joined the army would face the difficulties he described.
His comment also brings attention to the different views people hold about confidence, masculinity and what makes men successful in their relationships with women.
While some may associate military service with confidence and discipline, romantic relationships depend on many factors, including communication, mutual understanding, respect and compatibility.
Men who have never worn a military uniform can also develop these qualities through their personal experiences, education, work and interactions with others.
Muhoozi, who frequently shares his opinions on social media, has once again placed a personal observation before his online audience, leaving room for different interpretations of what he meant.
