Prudential Uganda Insurance Limited has opened a regional office in Gulu City, marking a significant step toward bringing insurance services closer to the people of Northern Uganda.

The new office, located at the Stanbic Bank Gulu branch, was officially inaugurated on Friday.

Speaking at the ceremony, Edgar Asiimwe, the Chief Agent Officer, emphasised that the expansion reflects Prudential’s commitment to improved client service by enhancing accessibility.

Asiimwe expressed gratitude to the Gulu City Council for facilitating the establishment of the regional office.

He noted that Gulu, as a key administrative and commercial hub, is playing an increasingly vital role in the social and economic transformation of the northern region.

“Our goal is to make insurance a fundamental part of financial planning for ordinary people in this region,” Asiimwe said.

He added that increased accessibility would encourage local communities to embrace insurance services, fostering long-term relationships between the company and its clients.

Tetteh Ayitevie, the Chief Executive Officer of Prudential Uganda, described the Gulu office as more than a revenue-generating venture.

“This is an opportunity to touch the lives of the people in Gulu and surrounding districts, helping them protect their future dreams,” Ayitevie stated.

Ayitevie also highlighted Prudential Uganda’s standing as one of the largest employers in the country’s insurance sector, with agents spread nationwide.

She attributed this success to the company’s professionalism and high-quality service delivery.

She further noted that while Prudential serves customers globally, its primary focus in northern Uganda will be on local farmers, aiming to help them benefit from savings plans and boost agricultural productivity.

Gulu City Mayor Acire Julius Labeja, who served as the chief guest at the opening ceremony, welcomed Prudential’s investment in the city.

He further said the move would stimulate investment and business activity in the area.

Mayor Labeja also urged the company’s management to prioritise youth engagement, stressing that educating young people about insurance would enhance their understanding of financial stability and risk management.

Prudential Assurance Uganda Limited has been operating in the country since 2014.

Globally, the company was established in 1848 and provides life and health insurance services to customers worldwide.
