Chief of Defence Forces Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has announced that he has withdrawn his previous tweet concerning businessman Odrek Rwabwogo, signalling a possible cooling of tensions between the two men.

Gen Muhoozi said Ugandans should not be concerned, assuring the public that the disagreements would not affect the unity of the Museveni family.

“I have cancelled my tweet. I shall meet my two sisters Natasha and Bishop Patience to discuss these issues. Ugandans should not be worried. The House of Museveni is well. God bless you all!” Gen Muhoozi posted.

The statement came shortly after days of public exchanges between Gen Muhoozi and Rwabwogo, who is married to President Yoweri Museveni’s daughter Patience Museveni Rwabwogo.

The disagreement attracted widespread public attention after Gen Muhoozi made strong comments about Rwabwogo amid a dispute involving the Presidential Advisory Committee on Exports and Industrial Development (PACEID).

Gen Muhoozi had criticised the committee and raised questions about its operations, while also directing remarks towards Rwabwogo.

The comments sparked debate among Ugandans, with many closely following the public exchange between the two figures connected to the First Family.

Rwabwogo later defended PACEID and maintained that the organisation was established through proper government processes.

The dispute intensified after the reported detention of Matthew Bagonza, a PACEID official who also works closely with Rwabwogo.

Gen Muhoozi confirmed Bagonza’s detention, while Rwabwogo said he was seeking information about where his aide was being held.
