Collines Angwech Otim, the duly elected Kyoga County MP in Amolatar district was officially sworn in as a Member of the 12th Parliament on May 13.

On January 15, Angwech was elected to replace Okot Junior Bitek. More than three months later, she took the oath at exactly 9:45 am on Wednesday.

Standing proudly alongside friends and family members, Angwech witnessed the significant milestone in her political journey for five years.

Competing fiercely against four male candidates, she emerged victorious, breaking barriers and setting a powerful example for women in leadership in the Lango sub-region.

The UPC congresswoman has vowed to work tirelessly for the advancement and welfare of the people of Kyoga County.

Addressing her supporters shortly after the swearing-in, MP Angwech expressed “profound gratitude for the trust placed in her.”

She promised to dedicate herself fully to fostering development and ensuring that the needs of her constituents are prioritised.

Beyond politics, Angwech is serving as the Country Director for Far Away Friends and Principal of Global Leaders’ School in Amolatar.

Her journey to politics began in 2021 when she ran for the Woman Member of Parliament seat but was narrowly defeated by Dr Agness Atim Apea.

Undeterred by that setback, she returned with renewed vigour in 2026, successfully outclassing men for the current parliamentary seat.

As she takes on this mantle of leadership, many look forward to witnessing the positive transformations she aims to bring to the community she proudly represents.
