By Nasuru Hassan Ocen | Police in Dokolo district on Friday, September 12, retrieved the bodies of two unidentified people suspected to have been killed by a mob along the Dokolo-Lira road at Te-Booster trading centre in Adok sub-county.
According to the Community Liaison Officer (CLO) of Dokolo district, Ogwal Leo Moses, a team from Dokolo Central Police Station, including the District Criminal Investigations Officer, the Scene of Crime Officer, and other detectives, visited the scene after being tipped about the mob action.
Ogwal confirmed that the two bodies were conveyed to the Dokolo Health Centre IV mortuary as investigations commenced. He explained that police have launched inquiries into what might have led to the gruesome killings.
He appealed to community members with any information that could assist investigations to come forward.
The CLO added that several materials suspected to have been used in the killing, including sticks and stones, were recovered from the scene. Police also recovered a motorcycle, registration number UFP 235W, a black TVS, which they suspect the victims had been riding.
Ogwal further urged relatives of missing persons to visit the Dokolo Health Centre IV mortuary to help identify the bodies, since no identification documents were found on them.
He appealed to the public to desist from mob justice, describing it as a barbaric act of taking the law into their own hands.
