The Kiira regional police command has rearrested two convicted hardened criminals of aggravated robbery and kidnap over the alleged murder of Rogers Kifubangabo.
In a statement issued by the Kiira regional police public relations officer, SP James Mubi, the operation was part of ongoing efforts led by SSP Charles Nsaba to maintain strict watch on lawbreakers involved in cases of murder, aggravated robberies, and kidnaps.
He noted that the crackdown has created a more conducive environment for both local and international investments, as well as the tourism sector.
According to Mubi, the duo had previously been accused of kidnap and aggravated robbery, with court ordering them to pay ten million shillings each in compensation.
Upon their release from Kirinya Prisons on August 28, a joint security team led by DPC CPS Jinja Central, SP David Kamugira, rearrested them.
They are currently being detained at Nalufenya Police Station on charges related to the alleged murder of Rogers Kifubangabo, the late son of Owek Micheal Kifubangabo, who was killed in June 2023 in Bugembe–Budhumbuli Karina Zone in Jinja City.
Mubi revealed that incriminating evidence links the suspects identified as Chris Kiguli, 26, commonly known as Dindo Di, and Samuel Muwanguzi, 25, a.k.a Sam Foster to the murder.
He added that the two have also been issuing threats to both security personnel and civilians.
Describing them as “most notorious hardened criminals,” Mubi recalled that the duo was initially arrested in February 2024 with the support of the Director of Crime Intelligence before being convicted.
