The territorial police in Lira district are still investigating a suspected murder by assault of Obua Bosco, 39. He was allegedly assaulted and murdered in Ogeo B village, Apua parish, Aromo sub-county, Lira district.

The crime was reported to the police by Ocol Peter, 38, a councillor of Apua parish and resident of Binya village, Apua parish, Aromo, Lira.

In a statement, SP Jimmy Patrick Okema, PRO of the North Kyoga Region, alleged that on the morning of October 7, 2025, Obua Bosco, who appeared to be drunk, started demanding part of his money from Okello Denis.

Okello is a clan brother to Obua. The former had given Okello his money to keep for him. “However, Okello refused to give, saying he would give the money only when Obua is sober,” SP Okema said.

But he (Obua) kept on insisting that the money must be given to him. At around 5pm, Obua (deceased now) followed Okello up to his house and started abusing him.

“Okello then got annoyed, came out then pushed him down and boxed him on the left ribs, the deceased then said his clan brother had broken his ribs. He became very weak,” the PRO explained in a statement.

“The scene of the crime was visited and documented with the help of the scene of crime officers, and statements were recorded from relevant witnesses.”

The body of the deceased was conveyed to Lira Regional Referral Hospital’s mortuary for postmortem. “Suspect on the run, intelligence on the ground to have him arrested.”
