Kasangati | Police are looking for Byekwaso Martin from Kasangati town council in Wakiso district. The search for him began on December 10, 2024.
He was not apprehended despite an operation launched in Kasangati’s Wampewo village following intelligence gathering on him.
“Martin was suspected of stealing vehicles from within the Kampala metropolitan area,” according to a police statement dated December 10.
Police raided his car garage in Kasangati and seized a number of vehicles and number plates.
Six (6) vehicles were recovered, including a UBH145F Toyota Wish in grey that had been stolen from Kirudu.
Others include UAV 370G Toyota Noah green, which is suspected of having been stolen from Natete, UAL 630A mark 2 white, which was stolen from Old Kampala, and UAX 793E Toyota Noah grey in color.
Numberless, Toyota “kibina” white in color and Numberless Toyota fielder black in color.
“Byekwaso Martin had just left the garage. However, police managed to arrest a mechanic by the name of Kagenda Joshua (30) a resident of Mpelerwe, in connection with the same case.”
In addition, 16 number plates were recovered from the same garage.
The majority of these vehicles had broken locks and starter switches, which indicated that they had been broken into during the theft process.
