Oyam | The National Resistance Movement (NRM) party’s electoral commission has officially opened the doors for its duly nominated candidates to campaign ahead of this month’s primary elections.
From June 17 to June 30, Dr. Tanga Odoi’s commission nominated aspirants for MP, LC5 and Mayoral races at plot 13, Kyandondo road, Kampala.
Jane Frances Acilo was one of those nominated on June 24. She travelled from Kampala to Oyam Boma Ground that same day, where she addressed hundreds of happy supporters.
Acilo arrived in Karuma town and found hundreds of cheerful people waiting for her by the roadside. She smiled as she waved at them from atop a car.
Thumbs up signals from people she met on her way from Amati centre to Oyam town via Atapara, Acaba were seen.
Acilo is contesting for Oyam district woman MP and has shown optimism to turn Oyam yellow. Currently, she is a front-runner to win the primary election ahead of the general election in 2026.
Speaking recently, Acilo said her campaign messages for primary and main elections are people-centered, and said there is no need to attack anyone.
“My messages are clear: pro people. I don’t need to attack or talk ill of the other candidates,” she said.
The whole campaign team won’t attack any opposite camps, Acilo has confirmed.
Acilo’s campaign and manifesto, which focus on agriculture, education, household income, jobs, and roads, are already making an impact, even though she has yet to join Parliament.
Across the district, beneficiaries of her maize seeds are now making bumper harvests. The maize gardens have been green throughout, healthy and each maize stem bore at least two corns.

The Jane-zee has arrived, and Jane-zee maize keeps making hopeful of what more positives lie ahead.
Last month, Acilo assured the people of Oyam district that “change is coming” in what her supporters believe could be the end of UPC dominance in Oyam district – especially in the office of the district woman MP.
