Jinja | Residents of Jinja City and District, together with the joint security leadership under Kiira Regional Police Commander SSP Charles Nsaba, have honoured SSP Dr. Monday Johnson Agaba for his outstanding leadership and distinguished service as the Regional CID Officer.
During a colourful handover ceremony held on Wednesday, May 28 at the regional police headquarters, speaker after speaker praised Dr. Monday’s visionary leadership, impartiality, and professionalism in handling complex criminal investigations throughout his tenure.
“Dr. Monday has been instrumental in ensuring efficient case file management and fostering a positive work environment that will outlive his time here,” remarked RPC SSP Charles Nsaba.
Regional Human Resource Specialist SSP Andrew Muzira, said, “It will take time for the Kiira regional command to adjust to his absence.”
Journalists also lauded his legacy. Racheal Wambuzi, a senior correspondent with Uganda Radio Network (URN), cited Dr. Monday’s dedication to justice, recalling how he pushed relentlessly to uncover the truth in the alleged murder of a street man by a fisheries officer from Nakaseke district.
Under the strategic supervision of SSP Nsaba, Dr. Monday contributed significantly to the reduction of capital offences such as murder, aggravated torture, robbery, human trafficking, and gender-based violence.
He also played a key role in championing the protection of children’s rights and fostering respect for human rights.
His tenure was marked by strong collaboration with the media, NGOs, CSOs, business leaders, the political class, religious institutions, the DPP, and the Judiciary all of whom praised his inclusive and strategic partnership approach.
In his farewell remarks, Dr. Monday expressed deep appreciation to the media fraternity in Jinja and the broader Busoga sub-region for their commitment to impartial reporting, promoting good governance, transparency, and accountability, and supporting police operations and government programs like the Parish Development Model (PDM).
“Jinja has very supportive, hardworking, and committed journalists with a transformative mindset,” he noted.
He also thanked the top security leadership including IGP Abbas Byakagaba and CID Director AIGP Tom Magambo for their trust in his capabilities, and paid special tribute to his supervisor SSP Nsaba for his guidance throughout the assignment.
“To my colleagues and the entire security team, thank you for the spirit of teamwork. I urge you to extend the same cooperation to my successor,” he said.
SSP Dr. Monday now proceeds to the Elgon Region in the same capacity. His successor is D/SSP Milton Beigumamu.
Notable transfers to Kiira Region are: SP Victoria Namuli – Regional Community Liaison Officer (CLO), SP Robert Mbabazi – Regional Logistics Officer, D/SP Patrick Okello – Deputy Regional CID Officer.
Others are D/SP Loy Gift Namono – OC CID, Jinja Central Police Station, D/SP James Ngwede – OC CID, Kiira North (Buwenge), D/ASP Eseza Nabutono – Regional CID Staff and ASP Rogers Namanya – OC Traffic, Jinja Central Police Station.
