St. Mary’s Magdalene Girls’ School in Lira City dominated the first match of the Lango USSSA zonal championships, defeating Apac SS 9-0.
Mary Alaro led the charge, scoring five goals, and her teammates contributed four more. Atala Ruth, Acayo Patricia; Anying Flavia, and Akanyo Sunyan all scored.

The hosts scored six goals in the first half and three in the second, demonstrating their impressive ability.
In other opening-day results, boys’ teams had promising starts on Monday.
Dr. Obote College 0-1 Wisdom High School
Otwal SS 3-0 Apac Seed SS
Amac Modern 1–3 Dokolo Progressive SS
This year’s championships, hosted by Dr. Obote College and St. Mary Magdalene SS, include the top schools from nine districts and one city, Lango.
The event, which runs from April 7 to 12, promises exciting matches on opening day.
Some notable boy teams to watch include. Lira Town College and Faith SS. For girls’, we have Topstar SS and St. Katherine SS.
The defending champions are Mentor SS of Lira City and Acaba SS of Oyam district.
The top performers will represent Lango at the national championships in Ngora and Bukedea.
