Mentor SS has won the Lira City USSSA boys’ football championship for 2025. Their victory came after a thrilling 3-0 win over Doctor Obote College in the finals held in Ambalal.
The final match was intense, with both teams giving their all. In the end, Mentor SS emerged victorious, strengthening their position as champions.
Mentor SS extended its lead, with Odongo Marcus scoring the team’s third goal in the 76th minute. This goal further solidified Mentor SS’ lead, making it a convincing win for the champions.
So, to recap, Mentor SS’ goals came from Epila Emmanuel’s 20 minutes free kick, and Oyuru Gaberal Ogwang, 71 minutes.
Mentor SS has been on a roll, defeating Lira Town College 4-2 on penalties to advance to the USSSA finals and eventually winning the championship.

They had a perfect record in the group stage, winning all of their games in Group A. That is an incredible achievement that demonstrates their dominance and strong teamwork.
Their unbeaten streak in the group stage set the tone for their successful campaign, which culminated in a championship win over Doctor Obote College in the finals.
Meanwhile, Mentor SS’s sister team, St Mary Magdalene, won their second title after defeating Top Star Girls SS 8-0 in the final.
This suggests a strong sporting culture and legacy in Mentor schools.
Both Mentor SS (boys) and St. Mary’s Magdalene (girls) have demonstrated a commitment to athletic excellence, and it is exciting to see these young athletes succeed in their respective competitions.
