Jane Frances Acilo has released her first visions for Oyam district as she aims to hold the NRM party flag for the general election in 2026.
Acilo, a well-known farmer, has entered politics to advance the development agenda in Oyam district.
She’s one of those interested in succeeding Santa Alum Ogwang as the Oyam district’s woman MP.
Under socioeconomic development, she intends to reduce poverty by implementing initiatives that provide economic opportunities and social services, and she has promised to introduce greenhouses in various villages throughout the district.
She hopes to create job opportunities through entrepreneurship, vocational training, and infrastructure development.
When it comes to income, she wants to make sure that programs like SACCOs, PDM, Emyooga; agricultural development, trade promotion, and stable markets for agricultural products are in place that will raise income.
Acilo has promised to prioritise infrastructure development, including roads, bridges, schools, healthcare facilities, and other critical infrastructure.
Education and skills development by providing access to quality education and vocational training to enhance skills and knowledge.
Health and wellbeing. She plans to improve and increase access to healthcare services, sanitation, and nutrition in order to improve overall well-being.
Community engagement and participation. Acilo has stated that she will encourage the community to participate in decision-making and development initiatives. “This helps in planning and getting services closer to the community.”
Institutional development and good governance are fostered by promoting transparency, accountability, and effective governance at all levels, from the LC1 to the district.
She stated that she will work with decentralised leadership to strengthen institutions such as local governments, schools, and medical facilities.
Policy and regulatory framework. By developing and implementing policies and regulations that support socio-economic development. This, she said, will be done through a presentation in Parliament.
“Through my ability and lobbying skills, I will foster partnerships among government, private sector, civil society, and communities,” she stated.
Acilo is hopeful that the NRM party flag will be hers, and that she will be elected as the woman MP for Oyam district.
