Defence Minister Oboth and Danish envoy discuss regional security

Minister of Defence and Veteran Affairs Jacob Marksons Oboth on Tuesday hosted Birgitte Nygaard Markussen.

 

Markussen is the Danish Special Representative to the Great Lakes Region.

 

The two and their teams met at the Ministry’s headquarters in Mbuya, Kampala.

 

The discussions centered on regional security, specifically the situation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

 

Present were the Danish Ambassador to Uganda, Signe Winding Albjerg, the Chief of Joint Staff, Maj Gen Jack Bakasumba, the Under Secretary for Finance and Administration, Edith Buturo.

 

Others included Director of Defence Public Information, Maj Gen Felix Kulayigye; and the Deputy Chief of Defence Intelligence and Security, Brig Gen Abdul Rugumayo.

 

For many years, the Danish government has provided significant support to Uganda.

 

Uganda has received more than shs400 billion in 2024 alone for trade, defense, security, refugee, and climate change initiatives.
