Gen. David Muhoozi, Minister of State for Internal Affairs, has urged Lyantonde district residents to take advantage of the current peace and stability to improve their standard of living.
He encouraged them to take advantage of the current peace and stability to better themselves.
Muhoozi made the remarks during the handover of UPDF projects at Lyantonde town council headquarters in Lyantonde, encouraging the community to not only work for sustenance but also participate in the money economy to improve their well-being.
The General also discussed the history of the National Resistance Army (NRA) and emphasized the significance of Tarehe Sita.
“We celebrate Tarehe Sita to give back to the community and appreciate them. It’s our social corporate responsibility to share our culture with the community,” he stated.
Gen. Muhoozi also urged parents to send their children to school and encouraged involvement in government programs such as the Parish Development Model (PDM) and Emyooga Youth Livelihood Initiatives.
Asaba David Nkojo, Resident District Commissioner of Lyantonde, thanked President Museveni for his contributions to the country’s stability.
“It’s because of President Museveni that you see everything in place — the peace, stability, and programs like the Parish Development Model. It’s all thanks to our president,” Asaba said.

Lt. Col. Godfrey Mwesigye Rwabujumbure, the Tarehe Sita team leader in Lyantonde district, emphasized the importance of historical figures from Greater Masaka who joined the liberation struggle.
He named the late Lt. Gen. Pecos Kutesa, Maj. Gen. (rtd) Phenehasi Katirima, and Brig. Gen. (rtd) Emmanuel Rwashande.
He also praised the local community and district leadership for their cooperation during Tarehe Sita Week.
Muhangi Fred, the Lyantonde district LC5 chairperson, praised the UPDF for maintaining discipline in the area.
“We have been here with UPDF soldiers for over a month, and not a single case of indiscipline has been reported,” Muhangi stated. He also thanked the UPDF for the services and projects it provided to the Lyantonde district.
During Tarehe Sita week, there were numerous donations and activities, such as free medical camps, soccer matches, town cleaning, and the distribution of school supplies and delivery beds, among others.
