Jinja | Police in Kiira region have launched a full-scale investigation into the brutal sexual assault and murder of Caroline Nziiro.
Her body was discovered in a trench in Jinja City’s Mialo Mbili area.
Residents were shocked to see the lifeless body. By the time of her brutal death, Nziiro was believed to be in her late 30s.
The area residents immediately alerted authorities and a team of homicide detectives and forensic experts swiftly responded to the scene.

They collected evidence, recorded witness statements, and conducted preliminary examinations.
While no visible bruises were initially observed, investigators believe she was repeatedly sexually assaulted before being killed on the night of January 27.
Kiira Regional Police Commander SSP Charles Nsaba has vowed to pursue those responsible and ensure justice is served.
Authorities are urging the public to come forward with any information that could lead to the apprehension of the suspects, assuring informants of strict confidentiality.
Relatedly, Kiira Regional Police PRO, SP James Mubi noted that violent crimes against women and children significantly reduced last year due to sustained community awareness efforts.
“We will intensify these campaigns in schools, markets, churches, and online spaces to further promote societal values and responsible behavior,” said Mubi.
Nziiro’s body was transported to Jinja Main Hospital for a postmortem examination as investigations continue.
