Police search for killers of Jinja salesman in shs22m robbery

Jinja | Kiira Regional Police have intensified efforts to track down suspects involved in the fatal shooting of a sales representative in Bugembe-Wanyama Mukekanga, Jinja City.

The victim, Emma Opus, was attacked on Monday evening while on duty at an Airtel service center.

Opus, an employee of V.G Keshwala & Sons Limited, was reportedly ambushed by armed assailants traveling in a Toyota Premio. The attackers shot him and fled with over shs22 million and his mobile phones, which police are now tracking.

He was initially rushed to Alshafa Hospital in Mpumudde before being referred to Jinja Main Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7 pm.

After Opus’ shooting, Police swiftly responded and recovered his motorcycle, UFJ 397Q and a cartridge among other exhibits.

Investigators are analyzing CCTV footage and following new leads.

Kiira Regional Police Spokesperson SP James Mubi urged businesses handling large sums of cash to seek security escorts, warning that operating without protection increases vulnerability to violent crime.

Police authorities have called on the public to provide any information that could aid in the suspects’ arrest as investigations continue.
