Arsenal scores 5 to humble Manchester City

Two Arsenal players under the age of 19 scored wonderful goals on Sunday, giving Mikel Arteta a victory over his former manager, Pep Guardiola.

The North London club needed a win to stay second in the table, with Liverpool not about to falter yet.

Manchester City has had a terrible run of form this season, and Pep and his team were beginning to find their best form.

Meanwhile, Arsenal has been in their best form against the league’s top teams, defeating Manchester United, Chelsea, Tottenham, previously and Manchester City on Sunday.

Arsenal’s 5:1 thrashing was their biggest against Pep, and it demonstrated how much Arsenal, who require reinforcements in key areas, can still deliver.

Young players, including Captain Martin Odeegard, Thomas Partey, Lewis Skelly, Kai Havertz, and Ethan Nwaneri, scored wonderful goals.

Arsenal reached 50 points, six behind Liverpool.

Erling Halaand scored the sole goal for the visitors.

Arsenal will hope that Sunday’s victory provides motivation as they travel to Newcastle on Wednesday to try to overcome a 2:0 deficit in the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-finals.
