Speaker Among to grace Lira City’s first boda boda festival

Lira |Anita Annet Among, the speaker of parliament who also serves as the Bukedea district woman MP, is expected in Lira City this weekend.

The first boda festival in Lira City’s history, including when it was a municipality, will be held on January 18 at Lira Town College’s playgrounds.

Speaker Among will grace the event at the invitation of the Lira United Motorcycle Boda Boda Association (LUMBA), through their new patron, Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero.

According to organizers, the festival will be a “vibrant celebration of the vital role played by the boda boda industry in the growth and development of the city.”

The day will also mark a significant milestone for LUMBA, as they officially unveil and welcome their new patron, Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng, Minister of Health who also serves as Lira City woman MP.

On the same day, Dr. Aceng will assume her new roles.

tndNews understands that boda boda riders have planned a welcome procession for Dr. Aceng and the Guest of Honour, Speaker Among.

The procession begins in Apii, Kole district, with a grand entry into the City.

“The procession is expected to showcase the unity and pride of Lira City’s boda boda riders, as well as their appreciation for Dr. Aceng’s leadership and contributions to the City.”

Planned activities 

The day will include a variety of activities to entertain and engage attendees, such as cultural performances, a motorcycle parade, and speeches by key leaders.

“The city is expected to be a sea of yellow, symbolizing the unity and vibrancy of the community,” a statement from the organisers read.Boda boda

The day will also be used by both female politicians to call on people, particularly Boda Bodas, to grant President Museveni and the NRM party more mandate in 2026.
