Oyam |Jane Frances Acilo has pledged to provide scholarships to the 32 best PLE performers in the Oyam district.
Acilo is a businesswoman, commercial farmer, and CEO of Abeja Farm Limited in Myene sub-county.
She is currently mobilising the electorate in order to run for the Oyam district woman MP seat under the NRM.
She has promised to pay the fees for these students from senior one to senior six.
Abeja recently addressed hundreds of NRM members at her residential home in Myene sub-county, stating that the beneficiaries will come from all 11 sub-counties and 5 town councils in Oyam.
She stated that each sub-county and town council will produce the top two PLE performers from government-aided schools.
This pledge, Acilo stated, will be fulfilled whether or not she is a member of parliament.
She also promised to provide scholastic materials like school boxes and mattresses to all 2024 PLE first graders in government-aided schools in the Oyam district.
To strengthen the party, the commercial farmer pledged to establish 16 NRM offices in all sub-counties and town councils, each equipped with at least 100 plastic chairs.
She also advocated for increased grassroots mobilisation.
The farmer-turned-politician stated that she will prioritize investment by providing quality and affordable seeds and other agricultural inputs, as well as connecting Oyam farmers to good markets for their produce on a national and international level.
Jaspher Onena, the NRM chairperson of Oyam, welcomed this visionary leader and promised to do the same for other aspiring candidates. During these consultative meetings, he did, however, promote love and unity.
Patrick Nyero, former NRM chairperson for Myene sub-county, praised Acilo’s unique vision and urged Oyam residents, particularly farmers, to show their support for the incoming leader.
He stated that Acilo’s goals include economic transformation and poverty eradication.
Brian Muskasa, an Aber youth leader, also praised Acilo’s actions, saying they are tired of the opposition’s lies and propaganda aimed at gaining cheap popularity without equal resource distribution.
He provided an example of how Oyam benefits more from resource allocation.
On Oyam South, he stated that there is a need for a change in leadership so that Oyam has a leader who will be a unifying force for equal development throughout the district.
