Kampala | The territorial Police in Kampala Metropolitan South and Nsangi say they have in custody Kirumira Abdul of Kabojja “A” zone, Kasenge ward in Kyengera town council.
Abdul was arrested on allegations of vandalism of the Police CCTV camera at Kabojja I, Kyengera on January 24, 2024, at around 6 pm.
“ The suspect who was showing signs of mental illness is to be examined at Butabika Hospital,” says the Police spokesperson, Fred Enanga.
“We continue to treat criminal activity in relation to CCTV cameras seriously. The damaged CCTV camera has been repaired, the area being a hotspot and part of the community safety network,” he added.

Enanga said Investigations continue to establish whether the act was a targeted mischief, reminding the public that CCTV cameras are a vital tool for public safety which includes; preventing crime, detecting offences, and improving response to emergencies.
Also, he added the cameras assist in the management of places, reducing public fear of crime, monitoring traffic flow, police deployments and patrols.
“It is therefore a widely used tool in policing.”
