Kampala | Jacob Oboth Oboth, Minister of Defence and Veterans Affairs, has emphasized the importance of increasing business cooperation between Uganda and China National Precision Machinery Import and Export Corporation (CPMIEC).
Oboth made the remarks during a meeting with a CPMIEC delegation at the Ministry of Defence’s headquarters in Mbuya, Kampala.
The meeting follows earlier discussions initiated by Huda Oleru, Minister of State for Defence and in charge of Veteran Affairs, during her visit to China.
Both meetings focused on identifying potential projects in Uganda’s defence industries that could benefit from collaboration with China.
Oboth assured the Chinese delegation of a mutually beneficial partnership and thanked them for their interest in working with Uganda.
“I want to assure you that the Government of Uganda and China enjoy strong and cordial relations. This ministry enjoys a good relationship with China,” Oboth said.
Yu Tao, Vice President of CPMIEC, expressed gratitude to Minister Oleru for her efforts to strengthen Uganda-China relations.
Yu stated that their collaboration with Uganda began over 14 years ago and that they look forward to a new chapter of cooperation with the Ugandan government.
The meeting took place on Wednesday, January 22.
