Road crashes on Kampala-Entebbe expressway have reduced to 9 per month

Kampala | A three-year toll on the Kampala-Entebbe expressway has brought in a total of Shs119.8 billion, according to Uganda’s Ministry of Works and Transport.

Currently, the expressway serves 28,000 vehicles per day, with over 4,570 motorists.

The convenience of the Upesi Electronic Smart Cards benefits everyone, according to a ministry statement.

“About 25.3 million passages have been recorded over the past 3 years providing smoother, safer and more convenient journeys

“Efforts from the government of Uganda and Road Safety stakeholders have helped reduce accidents from 21 crashes a month in the first year to now 9 crashes a month.”

The expressway opened to traffic in 2018, but tolling has only been in effect for the past three years.
