Kampala |Preparations have commenced following the release of the general elections schedule for 2026 by the Electoral Commission (EC).

In many parts of the country, it appears that early campaigns by political parties and those with elective mandates have begun.

The commission has yet to officially launch campaigns, but it is preparing to hire thousands of nationals to assist with the managing the poll.

In a job posting released this week, they are looking for 2,300 sub-county election officers and 10,717 parish election officers.

The commission requires applicants to submit handwritten or typed applications that clearly indicate their position and area of work.

Additionally, applicants must have a valid national ID or NIN. “The application must include a comprehensive CV with two referees and daytime contact information.

“Copies of certificate and testimonials should be submitted to the District Election Administrator of the relevant areas.”

All intending applicants have until November 4, 2024, to submit their details. More information can be found at ecjobs.

Nominations for all elective positions will close on October 3, 2025.

According to the roadmap, voting for Presidents, Members of Parliament, and Local Government leaders will take place between January 12 and February 9, 2026.
