On December 21, 2022, tndNews and the International Women Peace Group (IWPG), headquartered in Seoul, South Korea, signed a cooperation agreement.
The long-term agreement seeks to promote cooperation in a variety of projects and activities aimed at achieving global peace. The IWPG’s Global Region 12 oversees this.
Both tndNews and IWPG have been working to amplify peace messages and engage stakeholders such as media and women’s groups to promote peace in their communities.
The upcoming journalism peace conference will be critical in spreading messages and raising awareness about the importance of peace at home, in the country, and around the world.
Lee Soo-jeong, Regional Director of Global Region 12, commented on the Uganda-Kenya Journalism Peace Conference 2024, saying, “President Nelson Mandela, who received the Nobel Peace Prize for his peace movement, and Kenyan woman peace activist Wangari Maathai have inspired and motivated me as I work for peace.”
“I invite journalists who will be the eyes and ears of Uganda and Kenya. I hope that through this event, we can become trumpets of peace and transform Africa into a place where the desire for peace shines even brighter,” she added.
Milton Emmy Akwam, tndNews Director, stated, “This is the first time we are coming together as African journalists to promote peace.
“Journalists play an important role in shaping our nation and providing hope to those who lack it, and this conference will be invaluable,” he added.
The conference, which was originally scheduled for August 9, will now take place on August 30 at 3 p.m. (EAT).
Journalists in Global Region 12 countries (Uganda and Kenya) are encouraged to apply today.
