Dr Amrita Kapur, Secretary General of Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF), presented cases on how the international society has institutionalised peace through UN Security Council Resolution 1325 and the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda.
Right before she was appointed as chairwoman, she also worked as the IWPG Regional Director of Global Region 1.
Global Region 9 of the IWPG was awarded as the most excellent Global Region of 2024.
The participants came forward to share their stories and highlight the value of women in peace work during the International Peace Conference held on September 19.
IWPG is a global women’s non-governmental organisation (NGO) registered with the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and the Department of Global Communications (DGC).
The monument is established in Green Paradise in Kapalong as a result of the city’s commitment towards peace.
The Uganda-Kenya Sustainable Journalism Peace Conference will be the first in years since tndNews and IWPG signed an agreement.
Over 50 women leaders and members attended the event, which was organised by the IWPG Global Region 12 branches in Uganda, Kenya, and Cambodia.

IWPG has solidified its position as a leading global women’s peace organisation by conducting solo events at CSW for three consecutive years.
IWPG is an NGO with special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
“When one person is at peace, the world is at peace. If you want peace in the world, you must first be peace,” says IWPG Regional Director Lee Soo.
