IWPG Global Region held completion ceremony of the Women Peace Lecturer Training

Seoul I On February 20, the Global Region 12 of the International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) consisting of Jeonju, Iksan, Gunsan and Jeong-eup held an in-person Peace Lecturer Training Education (PLTE) completion ceremony at the IWPG Jeonju office.

According to IWPG, PLTE is a women’s peace education program aimed at building sustainable peace in a globalized world plagued by war and conflict. Currently, it is being held in various countries around the world.

The program trains women peace lecturers who can foster peaceful citizens and conduct peace education based on the theme: ‘Peace that starts with me extends to the family, society, nation, and the world’.

On this day, the first part of the 10th training, the final course of the Women’s Peace Lecturer Training Program, and the second part of the completion ceremony were held. 20 members attended.

Regional Director Lee Soo-jeong said, “In the poem ‘One Person’ by poet Lee Byung-chul, it says, ‘If one person is peaceful, the world is peaceful. If you want peace in the world, you must become peaceful first, because you are that one person. Just like this poem, small peace starting from me will have a great power.”

Soo-Jeong added: “If the graduates of the program run with a mother’s heart with a clear sense of mission for peace, the vision of IWPG will be realized quickly.”

“I attended the Women Peace Lecturer Training with high expectations when I heard about the training,” said Ms. Oh Mengyeh, who presented her testimony.

“I was surprised by the wonderful lectures of the lecturers who communicate with each other and change lives, not just convey knowledge, and I thought that I would be changed and become a wonderful peace lecturer,” she added.

Meanwhile, IWPG is an NGO in Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).

It is actively engaged in supporting and promoting the PLTE, spreading a culture of peace, and legislating the Declaration on the Peaceful End of War (DPCW) through its network of women around the world.
