Kwania | On Thursday, May 9, the Masjid Bilal mosque in Kwania district was officially handed over to the Supreme Mufti Kibuli office.
The house of Islamic faith was received by the Supreme Kahdi of Greater Lango Supreme District, who promptly handed it over to the Supreme Kadhi of Greater Apac, Sheikh Abas Etwop.
Masjid Bilal mosque in Abongorwot ‘A’ village, Abongomola sub-county, Kwania district, was built by the Pakistan Community in Lira.
The community is led by its President, Atiq Nawaz.
The mosque, which was built on shs2.5 million of land, is worth shs43 million. The place of worship also includes a water source (borehole) worth shs6 million.
In addition, the mosque has new wool carpets and a brand new public address system.
The guest of honour, Sheikh Balinda Yusuf Muhammad, Supreme Kadhi of Greater Lango Supreme District, donated a box containing 30 copies of the Qur’an and some clothing.
More than 20 locals have embraced Islam since the mosque’s construction began, and 15 more did so after it was commissioned on Thursday.
