Lira | Punuluru residents in Lira City West Division have endorsed President Yoweri Museveni, 80, for the 2026 general election.
They also expressed gratitude to him for appointing “vibrant youths” as Assistant Resident City Commissioners.
On May 7, 2024, all of Lira City’s recently appointed ARCCs met with Punuluru residents, and their hosts stated that the Commissioners will help champion mobilisation, preach patriotism, and fight corruption in Uganda.
Otucu Bonny and Bonny Okello Alele are the Assistant Resident City Commissioners assigned to Lira City. Olang Sam and Ojok Isaac represent Lira City West Division, while Opolot Masood and Akello Betty represent Lira City East Division.
RCC Lawrence Egole, the senior in command, dispatched the six ARCCs to Punuoluru to monitor and assess the construction of Punuluru Health Centre III.
The Shs1.8 billion health facility is being built by Build Mask Company. The purpose of our visit was to assess work progress and value for money, according to ARCC Bonny Okello Alele.

The commissioners also determined whether Punuluru residents have a stake in the health project.
The commissioners thanked the contractor for the “great work they are doing and requested continuity of work.”
The Assistant Project Engineer of Build Mask company was contacted by phone and explained to ARRC Bonny Otucu why they were not on-site.
The contractor explained that the work was completed in March 2024 by fixing the cabinets and performing plumbing work. The contractor assured the team that regular work would resume this week.
Later, the ARCCs interacted with Punuluru residents at a trading centre near the health centre. The residents were visibly excited to see the vibrant young men carry out their duties as assigned by the Resident City Commissioner.

They thanked President Museveni for his “wonderful selection” of Ugandans to serve this country. Adoch Anna Grace is a staunch NRM supporter who believes Lira City deserves this calibre of commissioners.

The NRM party registrar of Punuluru praised Museveni for his stewardship and leadership in ensuring that his people are safe, healthy, and wealthy at the same time.
He stated that the NRM government is deeply committed to securing Ugandans’ futures by focusing on service delivery, transforming the common man’s livelihood, and ensuring peace and security.
Lucy Benson Okao thanked the commissioners for their courtesy visit and assured them of NRM votes in 2026.
She emphasised their unwavering love and support for Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero (Lira City woman MP), who they say is dedicated to ensuring that her people and Ugandans as a whole receive better healthcare.

Ayo Oscar Kisembo, another resident, thanked the President for appointing energetic youths who had been on the ground with them and assured the commissioners that they would work together to improve the community.
President Museveni received the endorsement of some Lango NRM cadres and party league chairs for the general elections of 2026 last week.
