Amolatar | In a concerning development, the Education Department of Amolatar district has launched a thorough investigation into the absence of eight pupils from Aweiwot Primary School during the Primary Leaving Examination (PLE).
District information officer Andrew Ogwang revealed that, of the ten students across the district who missed the exams, eight were from Aweiwot, raising serious questions about attendance and overall student readiness.
Ogwang expressed his shock at the situation, emphasising the need to understand the underlying reasons for these absences.
He noted that similar patterns were observed during recent mock examinations, indicating potential ongoing issues within the school’s management and its engagement with parents.
Attempts to reach the headteacher of Aweiwot Primary School for comment were unsuccessful before press time, leaving many concerns unanswered.
Despite these troubling reports, Ogwang highlighted that the overall examination period in Amolatar district concluded successfully, with 2,503 pupils registered for the PLE and only ten failing to attend.
During this time, Ogwang encouraged parents to explore the opportunities presented by newly constructed secondary schools in their sub-counties, which offer a more affordable route for continued education.
The investigation aims to pinpoint the causes of absenteeism at Aweiwot, ensuring that all students receive the necessary support for a successful educational experience.
