Kyoga County MP Bitek delivers hand-held tractors to youth

Tractors

Amolatar| On May 6, 2024, Kioga County Member of Parliament Moses Okot Jr Bitek handed over seven hand-held tractors to youth groups in Amolatar.

He also handed over one big tractor to boost agricultural yields.

At the Amolatar Boma ground, where the handover took place, MP Okot said he thought it wise to start with training the operators before giving them tractors.

He cautioned youth leaders who believe they will profit from the tractors while also enjoying themselves. Okot urged each group to open a bank account to help them save money, which will benefit every group member.

Okot, an FDC MP, promised to provide more tractors for his constituency.

Bitek advises beneficiaries, particularly operators, not to charge more than shs40,000 per hector for the constituents’ gardens that they will plough.

Amolatar RDC Francis Odoki Rwotlonyo praised MP Okot for his work for the youth.

He added that under Amolatar’s current leadership, the district will shine.

RDC Rwotlonyo also praised his boss, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, for the fundamental change that is now evident.

“The change we see now is due to the President’s efforts when he said it in 1996,” the RDC stated.

He also praised the current leaders for cooperating with the NRM government despite political differences.

The RDC urged sub-county leaders to provide proper guidance and to accept all government assistance “as ours that require long-term maintenance.”

Geoffrey Ocen Kiring, the LC5 chairperson, requested that the President, through RDC Rwotlonyo, provide good roads for youth to reach markets with their harvested produce.

Kiring urged farmers to use tractors to eliminate food insecurity, reminding residents how difficult it is to rely on Lake Kyoga for food.

Mpiiwa Paul, the Chief Administrative Officer, thanked the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry, and Fisheries (MAAIF) for considering Kyoga Constituency as a beneficiary.

He stated that the tractors would increase agricultural inputs at various homes.

Calvin Opolot, a youth, thanked the President for considering the youth. “Uganda’s vision is that by 2040, everyone will be living a good life.”

He also urged youth leaders to be trustworthy if the tractors are to help them, and praised MP Okot for delivering the hand-held tractors to the beneficiaries who had waited so long.

Handheld tractors were distributed to every district in Northern Uganda last year by the government through MAAIF.
