Amolatar |A well-known chicken dealer in the Amolatar district lost his hard-earned money on May 12 along with some of the chickens he was going to trade.
Elope Isaac was waylaid on Alemere-Awelo road, Amolatar town council.
It is claimed that on May 12 at around 9:30 a.m., Elope was robbed of shs500,000 cash and a mobile phone containing shs237,000 in a mobile money account.
The territorial police in Amolatar district are currently investigating this crime, according to North Kyoga Regional PRO SP Patrick Jimmy Okema.
According to Okema, GISO Orech Moses reported that a man was robbed of his money.
“The assailant could have trailed him from where he was withdrawing mobile money. He was grabbed and his property looted and tied with a robe and dropped in a swamp near the road,” said Okema.
He (Elope) was able to reach the roadside, where he was identified and reports were made, while others circulated on social media, the PRO told tndNews.
Upon receiving this information, the DPC immediately dispatched a team led by CPL Okou Juma to the crime scene.
The victim was rescued from his attacker and taken to the police station before being rushed to Amolatar Health Centre IV for treatment.
“This is a very unfortunate incident, and we ask for anyone with information about these suspects to quietly share it with the police,” the Regional PRO stated.
