Wisdom High School rewards UCE, UACE stars and staff shs30m

Kole | Wisdom High School in Kole district on Sunday rewarded candidates who excelled in the 2023 UCE and UACE examinations in a thanksgiving prayer. 

The school’s staff also got the reward for “job well done”.

Shs26m was given to teachers and general staff to share and shs4m to top performing candidates in UCE And UACE 2023 results.

The monetary rewards were endorsed by the board and school directors.

Wisdom has over 104 general staff each of whom is doing “an incredible job to promote excellence”.

The thanksgiving prayer held at the school in Akalo Town Council was attended by education officials of Kole, and politicians.

Wisdom’s Executive Director, Ambrose Ogwal said he never opened the school for business.

“I have created Job opportunities for all Ugandans, also to add value to the education system in Lango sub-region so that the education system develops more like schools in western and central.

“I encourage parents as the national representative of all the secondary school teachers at the national executive council of UNATU not to consider only first grade because someone who passed in divisions two, three and four in PLE can still challenge in UCE and UACE.

The director cited Abdu Shaku who got 46 in UCE and scored 20 points in the recently released UACE.

Other students are Jonathan Ogwang who got 55 in UCE and scored 17 points, Omoko Newton got 43 UCE and 17 points in 2023 and Okai Eric who got 35 in UCE has scored 18 points.

Candidates who shone in 2023, both UCE and UACE were rewarded with mattresses and cash.

Abdu Shaku walked home with shs700,000 and a mattress, and Aneno Irene who got  18 points received shs500,000k plus a mattress.

The rewards are to facilitate their new academic journey. The school director said those who sat UCE in 2023 will study under bursaries.

Wisdom High School got 75 candidates in division one and 84 in division two out of 178 who sat UCE in 2023.

In UACE, they got 112 candidates with three principal passes and 22 candidates with two principal passes. 10 candidates got one principal pass out of 150.Wisdom

As of first term data, the total enrollment of students stands at 1,685.

The district education officer of Kole, Tom Okari, thanked the director for the value addition that he’s bringing to northern Uganda to support learners of the young generation.

“I want to assure the parents that the education department in Kole is very proud of this achievement. In Lango, Wisdom High School is number one and 25 nationally, this is a very big achievement.

“I’m so delighted with these results, because in Wisdom High School, there’s no examination malpractice, they have effective teaching and hard-working staff.

“I, therefore, urged parents to value our schools within Lango and they should forget the interest of sending their children to study in Kampala.

“Lastly, as a district, there is now an opportunity for students in Kole to join Universities under the  government scheme [scholarship] or district quota system.”

Denis Obol is Kole’s district secretary for education and health. He represented the district LC5 chairperson, Andrew Moses Awany. Obol said students are leaders of tomorrow.

“I want to encourage parents to value the education of their children as education is a key for everything.

“I know we all come from poor families, but I urged members of the public to promote education in Lango for our children to be educated.

“As Kole, we are fully behind to stand with any investor who has brought development.”
