Lira City: One dead as oldest guest house collapses

Lira

A commercial building collapsed in the heart of Lira City, killing one person. This happened on Wednesday morning.

The Olwol road-based building that has housed Blue Valley Guest House for years, was reportedly under renovation.

Blue Valley is one of the oldest and cheapest lodging facilities in Lira. Its management could not quickly comment by press time.

The deceased has been identified as Godfrey Otwii, 35.

Police arrived at the scene by 8 am with the expectation of issuing a statement very soon.

This is the first tumble in years and the first since Lira attained her city status.

Details to come.
