Uganda is one of the countries in Africa praised for controlling Covid-19 infections.


Kampala – January 15, 2022: A total of 3,394 people have died in Uganda because of Covid-19 pandemic. Out of the tally, nine new deaths were registered between January 13 and 14.

According to the Ministry of Health data released on Saturday, January 15, 157,754 have since tested positive; 98,879 have recovered and 178 remain admitted to various health facilities.

Tests conducted in nearly three years stand at 2,258,524; 7,726 new tests were done between January 13 and 14 in which 594 tested positive.

588 were alerts and contacts: Kampala (297), Nakasongola (34), Buliisa (11), Bududa (9), Kabarole (6), Wakiso (89), Oyam (17), Kayunga (17), Kabale (16), Mbarara (16), Mayuge (12), Lyantonde (12).

Others are Adjumani (2), Jinja (2), Gulu (2), Masindi (2), Kitgum (2), Kiruhura (1), Budaka (1), Buikwe (1),  Kazo (6), Bushenyi (4), Hoima (4), Luweero (3) Mukono  (1), Yumbe (1), Iganga (1), Namisindwa (1) Tororo (7), Amuru (5), Lira (2), Kyotera (1), Masaka (1), Kanungu (2)

Six (6) truckers from Kampala (2), Jinja (2), Kyotera (1) and Amuru (1) tested positive.

According to the same Ministry, 12,220,106 doses of vaccine have been given to the population.
