Lira City Council Mayor, Sam Atul advised (now) graduates to use their knowledge and skills to change the community.

Lira – January 15, 2022: Lira University had its 3rd graduation ceremony on Friday, January 14.
A total of 343 students graduated with Degrees and diplomas in different academic disciplines.
The 3rd graduation registered more graduands from 192 (when the first ceremony took place) to 311 in the second edition and 343 in 2022.
Males took a bigger share with 193 (56 per cent) graduating and 150 (44 per cent) females.
Lira University has been in academic service for six years and it has produced over 800 professionals in more than half a decade.
Isoke Robert who has now graduated said a lot of pressure both from her parents and a course he was doing made him work harder so he could attain his target goals.
Another graduate, Kenneth Opio said he almost dropped out of the University but cooperation and persistence enabled him to complete the course successfully.
Meanwhile, Patrick Acai, a parent from Apac, thanked God for the struggle he and his daughter endured to succeed. “The day is already a good one,” he said, Friday.
Hellen Okumu, another parent, said it was too hard for her to raise tuition because her son lost a job as he was studying.

- Out of the total numbers of students who graduated, 44 per cent were females and 56 per cent, males.

Atul, however, tasked the University authorities to cooperate with Lango leaders in providing information so that service delivery is made appropriately to help change the status quo.
Retired Chief Justice, Benjamin Odoki is the Lira University Chancellor. He requested the government to consider providing special funding for research and interventions for public Universities.
The University Chancellor said there is an urgent need for allocation of funding in the faculty of agriculture; continuous improvement in staffing level and more wage allocation.
Some of the courses at Lira University: BSc. in Midwifery, BSc. in Public Health, BSc. in Community Psychology and Psychotherapy, Master of Public Health, Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Commerce, among others.
