Oyam – 21, December 2021: Fifty-four (54) African countries will share China’s 1b Sinovac vaccine doses next year, according to the Chinese Ambassador to Uganda, Zhang Lizhong.

Zhang says Monday, “Sinovac vaccines (600k) donated by China arrived in Uganda early this morning. This is part of continuous support by China to support the vaccination plan in Uganda.”

“China will provide another 1 billion doses of vaccines to Africa next year,” he adds.

As Africa tries to vaccinate its population against the pandemic with donations from rich nations, there were some concerns the emergence of Omicron variant might jeopardize past gains.

However, according to the Africa Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC), “There’s no need to panic about the new Omicron variant because we have the tools to fight against COVID-19 and all the different variants.”

Africa CDC reveals vaccines are available and continue to flow around the continent steadily. “We also encourage the public to get vaccinated against the virus because it is the only way to protect yourself.”
