Lira – 29, March 2021: Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) national women team coaches have spotted eight [8] female players from Northern region [Acholi and Lango] after conducting trials in Akii-bua stadium, Lira City on Saturday Morning.
Three members from FUFA head office arrived in Lira city ahead of their scouting mission on Friday for the excises which was scheduled for Saturday 27th March this year.
The scouting team, including coaches was composed of Joan Namusisi – women football development officer, Mbekeka Oliver – Under 20 women national team coach and Ayub kalib who identified girls who has talent of playing football.
The eight players were identified from the six districts of Lira, Apac, Amolatar, Oyam and Gulu who sent their girls for trials in Lango.
Below are list of successful team U17, U20 and senior women team from different women football clubs in the region who turned up for the trials.

The national team coach also promised to buy pairs of boots for two young girls each next week. The recipients are Winnie Tino and Briget Angwench all from Lira Sports Academy /Lira Town College
Kilega Eunice of Bright City women football club reveled that it was her dream to become a great football player in the world.
Regional coaches who took their players for trial were equally delighted with the initiatives taken by FUFA to hunt for players from the region.
Joan Namusisi assured both the team coaches and players of the development FUFA is putting towards the women football in the country right from the grassroots to national team.

Eron Alal who’s the CEO of northern regional football also encouraged the girls to participate in some courses such as referee training courses as they continue with their studies.
Alal said there are only three female referees at national level who are from northern Uganda, revealing “others soon leaving”.
