Mbarara, August 3, 2020: Police in Mbarara City have arrested two pastors for allegedly contravening the Ministry of Health guidelines on novel coronavirus popularly known as Covid-19.
The two Men of God were picked from Katete in Mbarara City on Sunday, 2, 08 2020.
According to the Rwizi Police spokesperson, ASP Samson Kasasira, the two pastors were arrested alongside 17 other worshipers.
Kasasira identified the three pastors as Masengo Rugabirwa and Patrick Ntungane, all from Source of Healing Church in Katete, Mbarara City.
He said that the two and 17 others were arrested for conducting a Church service contrary to the Ministry of Health guidelines and Presidential directives on Covid-19.
Kasasira further said the suspects, comprised 12 women and 7 men, were arrested at around 11:00 am.
The suspects were charged with disobeying of the lawful order and for being negligent with intention to spread infection of a disease contrary to Section 171 of the Penal Code Act.
They are being detained at Mbarara Central Police Station vide SD Ref.25/02/08/2020.
