Omoro police arrest 6 people over motorcycle theft

Omoro—11 October 2020: Police in Omoro district last week arrested six people over the allegation of stealing a motorcycle belonging to a boda-boda rider in Omoro town council.

Police refused to disclose their names. They were picked from different places in Lango sub-region following efforts and coordination between police detectives, locals and some boda-boda riders.

According to a police officer, two were arrested form Odokomit in Lira City West Division while four were arrested from Kamdini town council in Oyam district.

Alex Oyugi, who’s the Omoro town council youth boda-boda chairman, said those suspected thieves have been stealing motorcycles from their members.

Mr Oyugi revealed that the stealing started early this year, adding that over 10 motorcycles have so far been stolen.

Peter Mugabi, the Omoro district police commander (DPC) confirmed the arrest, and said the investigation is ongoing.
