National—20, June 2020: A total of 1,850 samples were tested on Friday for novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) in Uganda and only eight were confirmed positive on Saturday.

Total confirmed cases for the country is now 763 with 492 recoveries, according to the Ministry of Health.

Five truck drivers from Points of Entry: Three from Elegu, one from Busia and one from Malaba all tested positive for the virus.

Three are among contacts and alerts, all from Kyotera districts.

The Ministry of Health says twenty-five foreign truck drivers tested positive for Covid-19 and were returned to their countries of origin.

1,154 total samples were tested from Points of Entry on Friday. 696 samples from alerts and contacts were also tested.

Do not stigmatize

“We need to support everyone who has recovered from Covid-19. Welcome them back home with love, care and support. Do not stigmatize people who have suffered from Covid-19,” this is a plea from the Ministry of Health to the public.
