Malaria is the leading cause of morbidity and mortality in many developing countries, where young children and pregnant women are the group most affected.
In Uganda, recent occurrence of flooding in 2019 along the River Nile and droughts in Northern Uganda has had impact on the transmission of malaria in the affected areas like Gulu, Amuru, Omoro, Oyam, Amuru; Adjumani, Moyo and Obongi.
While governments continue to use treated bed nets and indoor residual spraying as primary tools for combating malaria-causing mosquitoes, these mosquitoes can now survive exposure to insecticides, allowing them to continue transmitting malaria.
