Women entrepreneurs were urged to invest time in learning and training and to see business as a long-term journey requiring effort and consistency.
GROW is for women with existing businesses; these may be micro-enterprises, farms, trading stalls, or small workshops but they must be operational businesses that are ready to grow, said Anyakun.
GROW is a government of Uganda initiative designed to meet the needs of women entrepreneurs looking to expand their businesses, maintain self-employment, and create new job opportunities.
Based in Lira City, Peace Mothers have in their savings pool close to shs200m, with am ambitions to form a “bank” in the future.
Sharon Okello, Executive Director of the Nuwebiz Foundation, expressed her commitment to training more women to benefit from Grow project.
The national GROW projects are worth shs805b – equivalent to – or – approximately US$217m.
Despite efforts to combat GBV, Sarah Agiro, a Psychosocial Support Officer at Action Aid, Katakwi branch, reported registering 204 cases of gender-based violence within the last six months in the district.
