Why have Amolatar LC1 leaders given CAO and LC5 chairperson an ultimatum?

Amolatar |Local council 1 (LC1) chairpersons in Amolatar town council have given an ultimatum to the district leaders regarding their ex gratia.

Tom Okot Ecun is the chairperson LC1 of Apokmitimogo A and the chairperson of all the LC1s in the town council. He has given the Chief Administrative Officer and the District LC5 chairperson a three-day deadline.

The deadline issued to chairperson Geoffrey Ocen Kiring and Paul Mpiiwa concerns the whereabouts of their ex gratia, which were supposed to be disbursed in 2024.

Ecun expressed frustration on January 7, 2025, after discovering that their counterparts in a neighboring district had received their money in November 2024.

He told tndNews, “Last year, when I contacted the chairperson of LC5 and the clerk of the Amolatar district council, we were told that the district had fulfilled its obligations.”

However, until now, no payment has come through. On Wednesday, he revealed that they were giving district leaders a three-day deadline to respond.

And they want their ex gratia within these days.

Okot also stated that they are prepared to mobilize and demonstrate at the district headquarters on January 10, 2025, if they do not receive their funds within the specified time frame.

CAO Mpiiwa confirmed that the local council leaders have yet to receive their payments.

He acknowledged the delay and said it is because the figures are being verified, but promised that the leaders would soon start getting their money.
