Ugandan musician Yung Mulo has attracted attention after offering to contribute Shs50 million towards efforts to secure fellow musician and National Unity Platform (NUP) leader Bobi Wine’s return to Uganda and restoration of his freedom. The singer said he would make the contribution if he received Shs100 million.
Speaking about the proposal, Yung Mulo explained that he would give half of the money to the government and ask authorities to allow Bobi Wine to return to the country and enjoy his freedom. His remarks suggest that he believes a financial contribution could help open discussions over the matter.
“I would give 50M to the government and ask if they can allow Bobi Wine into the country and give him back his freedom,” Yung Mulo said.
The musician also indicated that he would use part of the money to support needy communities, suggesting that his proposed Shs100 million would serve more than one purpose. However, he did not provide further details about how the money would be raised or how any proposed. contribution would be presented to the government.

His comments have since generated conversations among music fans and members of the public, particularly because Bobi Wine is both a prominent entertainer and an opposition political figure. The relationship between the two musicians has also attracted attention because Yung Mulo is proposing to contribute towards a matter involving another figure in Uganda’s music industry.
Bobi Wine, whose real name is Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, has remained a central figure in Uganda’s political discussions. His political activities and relationship with the government have been subjects of public debate, with his supporters frequently raising concerns about his freedom and ability to participate in political activities.
Yung Mulo’s proposal has drawn attention to the possibility of fellow musicians using their public platforms to speak about issues affecting colleagues. His offer, however, remains a personal pledge, and there has been no confirmation that the government has accepted such a proposal or that a payment arrangement is being considered.
The singer’s remarks have therefore added another voice to the ongoing public conversation about Bobi Wine’s situation, while leaving questions about whether the proposed contribution will ever be made and whether it could have any effect on his return and freedom.
